A ‘Plug & Play’ Advisory Team

A ‘Plug & Play’ Advisory Team

A frequent way in which we, at ETL, assist our clients is the provision of an advisory sounding board for the Chief Executive and his Top Executive Team.  An example of this service, combined in this instance with senior executive coaching and professional mentoring, is currently underway with a rapidly growing precision engineering group with sites in the UK and China.

With a strong commitment to R&D, and a wide range of aerospace accreditations, including AS9100 and NADCAP plus customer-specific approvals, the client manufactures airframe and power plant components in both traditional and composite materials.  In addition, the group provides a range of value-added services such as global supply chain management and product lifecycle management.  Furthermore, because of their capabilities and cost structures the group offers a genuine one-stop-shop for customers, from new product developments through volume production to aftermarket support.

Employing our broad and deep experience of the aerospace industry, plus specific areas of professional business expertise, ETL's role is to work with the Chief Executive’s top team on a quarterly basis to bring fresh and knowledgeable eyes and minds to bear on further improving existing projects within the Group and aid the discussion of potential new ones.  To these sessions can be added our facilitation skills in identifying, and then helping to provide solutions to, potential situations that have not yet arisen but the effects of which are beginning to be felt beneath the surface.  Such support can save a client a great deal of time and money, and further enhance the value-add provided to their customers.

Complementing and supporting this work are a series of professional mentoring sessions with specific senior executives, and senior executive coaching with the Chief Executive.  Indeed, it can be the case that these sessions are often the means by which as yet unrealised but potential problems are first brought to light and so, where appropriate, either dealt with on a totally confidential one-to-one basis, or discussed with the top executive team as indicated earlier.

Like many of ETL's assignments this one is long-term and ongoing. And like all of our assignments it involves flexibility, sound communications, trust and, most importantly, understanding based on practical experience, the best professional qualifications, continuous industry & business research, and the ability to apply these appropriately in a rapidly changing world.  Working with our client, individually and as a team, this assignment involves Adrian Jones, Jason Crabtree and Michael Smith.
